Mountain bikers will be hitting the trails this Saturday for the 4th annual Boogaloo to Bor茅ale mountain bike fun race.
The event will feature a long course (21-kilometres), short course (5-km), as well as a run bike course for kids.
"It's always a lot of fun,鈥 said Sylvain Turcotte of Bor茅ale Mountain Biking, who puts on the event along with his partner Marsha Cameron and the Contagious Mountain Biking Club (CMBC).
"It's a big social event, families are welcome.鈥
The racing begins at Bor茅ale Mountain Biking, which is located about a kilometre past Long Lake.
Registration opens at 3:30 p.m. with the races kicking off at 4 p.m. The kid's event will take place at 6 p.m.
After the racing, there will be two bands, a Yukon Brewing Company beer garden and barbeque, as well as an ice cream station.
"It's definitely got something for everybody,鈥 said Turcotte.
The event has been gaining speed over the last few years with 75 racers taking part last season and an even larger crowd for the barbeque.
Turcotte said they are expecting as many as 100 racers and 200 people showing up for the festivities afterwards.
All proceeds from the event go to the CMBC.
"Some people will race and some people will just ride,鈥 said Jenn Roberts, a board member with CMBC.
"It's definitely open to anyone that wants to go and anyone who just wants to come out for the party, that's great as well.鈥
There is a $5 cover charge for the beer gardens and all cyclists have to be members of CMBC or have equivalent insurance. The cost for the run bike course is $5.
Roberts said the trails should be dry and in good condition for the event.
"There really nice trails, lots of fun to ride and I'm sure they will be nice and dry by the weekend.鈥
The event is put on with the help of local sponsors Yukon Brewing, Icycle Sports, Cadence Cycle, Angelina's Toy Boutique, PhysioPlus, Access Mining Consultants and Coast Mountain Sports.
