Aurora Geosciences ekes out victory in squash debut

Aurora Geosciences edged North Star Storage 16-15 in what was a battle of new squash teams during the Division 2 season opener Thursday night at Better Bodies Fitness.

Aurora Geosciences edged North Star Storage 16-15 in what was a battle of new squash teams during the Division 2 season opener Thursday night at Better Bodies Fitness.

Aurora's Jada Smith-Kwok defeated Katherine Krabel 3-1, and Andre Benoit shut out North Star substitute player Share Knorr 3-0 to lead the way.

Sana Syed lost by the slimmest of margins to Sam Oettli, dropping the five-game set 3-2, while Meagan Wilson lost 3-0 to North Star sub Victor Lavanderos.

In other action, High Country Inn defeated Electrical Shop 20-11.

Susan Whitty and Todd Pilgrim led the way for High Country, both defeating their opponents three games to love.

Matt Johnson also eked out 3-2 win. David Buckler was the lone Electrical Shop winner, defeating Adam Humphrey 3-1.

In the third matchup of the night, Better Bookkeeping downed Yukon Brewing Co. 18-14.

Aaron Nicholson and Micah Smith both won their matchups 3-0.

Last year, Sterling Insurance won the league title, with a 19-12 win over Yukon Brewing Co. in the championship match.
