Just one week after hosting the third annual Skookum Asphalt Charity Pro-Am, local golfers were back on the links at Mountain View Golf Course this past weekend for the Club Championships.

Leading the way was men's low gross champion Blaine Tessier.

Tessier, who has won the Yukon championships on multiple occasions, has also been golfing in the B.C. Golf Association amateur championship tournaments this summer.

In 2008, he was five strokes from making the cut at the B.C. amateur open.

The Club Championships is open to all MVGC members and included a skills challenge on Friday night as well as a Horse Race, a two-person event where all pairs (one high and one low handicap) play alternate shot.

Competitive rounds of golf followed on Saturday and Sunday.

Overall, the golfers were split in five divisions, the juniors, the senior men's division and a three-flight men's division.

The low net champion in the senior men's division was Brian Sweeney while Matt Lafferty won the overall senior division.

James McGrath was crowned junior champion.

In flight one of the men's division Landon Kulych led the way.

Kulych has also been competing on the B.C. circuit.

Flight two and three were won by Dan Hogberg and Wes Wirth.

One of the highlights of the tournament came from 11-year-old Byrce Anderson, who won the closest to the pin contest against all levels of competition.
