The 23rd annual Bowl for Kids Sake is set to happen April 27 at Mad Trapper Alleys.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Yukon is hoping to raise more than $25,000 through the event this year – the organization's 35th anniversary.

Last year, the bowling event raised about $20,000.

BBBS provides mentoring to Yukon children who want and need a mentor.

Children who have had as little as one year of mentoring benefit from higher self esteem, better attendance and interest in school, higher graduation rates, less negative behaviours (bullying/violence/crime) and less incidents of substance abuse.

BBBS Yukon has enjoyed a productive year with expansion of its In-School Mentoring program, an increase in traditional Big/Little matches and more activities and support provided for volunteer mentors and their Littles.

The organization is seeking members of the community to form a pledge team of six bowlers. Six members raising $100 each covers the costs of monitoring a match for a year.

Other donating opportunities include lane sponsorship, door prizes, silent auction items, and volunteer hours.
