Big Brothers Big Sisters Yukon raised a little over $20,000 during their annual Bowl for Kids Sake event Sunday at Mad Trapper Alleys.
BBBS鈥坋xecutive director Harold Sher said the funds raised are the result of nearly 1,000 individual donations and a variety of large and small corporate sponsorships.
Last year, the organization raised slightly less than $20,000, but a spike in the number of teams, silent auction items and lane sponsorships helped push them over the hump.
Sher said much thanks is due to the volunteers who spent the day at Mad Trapper Alleys, as well as the owners of the bowling facility, who provided lanes at no cost for the 23rd annual charity event.
Northwestel was named the top corporate fund-raiser, entering two teams in the event and raising $1,000.
"We are very appreciative of Northwestel for their efforts to bring awareness to the campaign and for supporting the event,鈥 said Sher.
Employee Cody Bachelder also picked up the highest individual bowling score on the day.
"The event is always a blast,鈥 said team organizer Colin Fenerty. "It was great to see everyone come out to support this great cause.鈥
