Trevor Bray and Brent Langbakk were neck-and-neck throughout last week鈥檚 orienteering meet at Yukon College. In the end, however, Bray crossed the finish line in 25:38, eight seconds ahead of Langbakk to take the expert division title.

Kendra Murray placed third with a time of 31:59.

Last Wednesday鈥檚 meet featured a good turnout for a July evening, and included a mass start for the advanced and expert courses.

Butterfly loops in the courses sent the competitors in different directions, resulting in a tight race.

Six orienteers completed the four-km expert loop, while 10 took on the 2.8-km advanced course, won by Ross Burnett in 28:42.

Jennifer MacKeigan placed second (33:11) while Karen McKenna took third (37:31).

Eighteen competed on the 2.3-km intermediate course, won by Savannah Cash in 24:14.

Logan Florkiewicz (24:26) and Judith VanGulick (29:07) followed Cash across the line.

Elias Sagar bested a field of 13 on the 1.3-km novice course with a time of 12:42. Nikolas, Samantha and Victoria Spicer finished second in 18:31.

The Yukon Orienteering Association鈥檚 next meeting will take place July 16 at Elijah Smith鈥圗lementary School.
