Sheldon Casselman established a new course record on the way to winning the third annual Whitehorse Fall Classic Disc Golf Tournament.

Casselman鈥檚 course record of 50 (-13) at Takhini North Disc Golf Course and Dan Reimer鈥檚 $200 ace on hole 13 at Mount Mac were the highlights in a

tournament attended by 20 players.

Overall, Casselman shot 186, good for -14, seven shots ahead of runner-up Jesse Devost.

鈥淭he crazy weather on Saturday scared a few players away,鈥� noted club president Ryan Norquay. 鈥淗owever, those that played had a blast.鈥�

The Fall Classic saw players shoot 36 holes Saturday at the Takhini and Solstice courses, followed by 18 more holes Sunday at Mount Mac.

The top five players completed a final nine holes to determine a winner.

The tournament came on the heels of a government announcement regarding funding for a new disc golf course.

Last week, the Whitehorse Disc Golf Association received $14,475 via the Community Development Fund (CDF) to build a four-season 18-hole disc course near

Yukon College.

鈥淭he Whitehorse Disc Golf Association is very grateful for CDF support,鈥� Norquay said in a press release.

鈥淲e are extremely excited as this opportunity will put Yukon on the global disc golf map and provide a wealth of spin-offs.鈥�
