Closing scramble marks end of golf season at Mountain View

Another Yukon golf season is in the books.
Mountain View Golf Club held its annual closing scramble on Saturday, Sept. 22.
The event marks the end of the season and the beginning of the course's
winterization process.
The course has now returned to temporary greens for the few remaining days in the
season.
Of the 36 teams in attendance, the foursome of Phil Mullin, Dan King, Derek Wirth and Derek Baldwin won the event with a score of 62.
Participants enjoyed sunshine and above-normal season temperatures for the scramble, said golf director Jeff Wiggins.
"Everyone seemed to enjoy the fantastic conditioning of the golf course and the organization of the event,鈥 he told the Star. "All in all, it was an exciting day.鈥
Alongside some great golf, many prizes were handed out. The evening was capped off with a raffle where four winners made off with some big sums of cash.
Longtime Whitehorse resident Donna Swales won the grand prize of a $10,000 Air Canada vacations voucher or the option of $7,500 cash.
Winning team member Dan King was twice lucky, taking home the second prize of $2,500.
Patrick Landry won $1,000 and Lee Reeve won an adult membership for 2013.
Other top foursome scores were as follows:
Blaine Tessier, Shannon Tessier, Sheldon King and Gord Starko 鈥 63; Dan Hogberg, Matt Lafferty, Fred Linville and James Edzerza 鈥 64; Paul Hunter, Birgitte Hunter, Jeffrey Hunter and Kimberly Hunter 鈥 66; and, Steve Fecteau, Sean McCarron, David Michayluk and Richard Orviss 鈥 66.
