Female players sought for AWG squad
With the 2014 Arctic Winter Games drawing closer, local sport associations are beginning to start their team selection processes.

Table Tennis Yukon is continuing to work hard to attract junior-aged female athletes to the sport.
The association's first trial event was held this past Saturday.
"Our first trial was quite successful,鈥� club president Dave Stockdale told the Star.
"Although our team may be young, we should have a full boys team and at least a juvenile girls team.鈥�
However, the need for older girls remains, Stockdale said. He continues to work hard to find U-17 girls born in 1996 or later to the game.
A second trial will be held Saturday, Nov. 16 at Whitehorse Elementary School beginning at 1:30 p.m. A $10 fee will be charged to those who did not play in the first trial event.
While the team will not be selected until late January, players must participate in the trials to be considered, Stockdale said.
Table tennis is touted as an excellent opportunity for athletes to participate in the week-long multi-sport tournament which will be held in Fairbanks, Alaska in early March.
