The annual Air North Midnight Sun Scramble was held at the Mountain View Golf Course on Saturday evening.

The four-person tournament teed off at 6:30 p.m, with golfers playing well into the night and enjoying the late evening sun.

The event, now more than 15 years old, is an annual tourist draw for the city, as golfers travel to Whitehorse to play in the unique tournament.

"It was a great evening for golf,鈥 Jeff Wiggins, head golf pro, told the Star.

"The weather cooperated and the sun came out around 5 p.m. We didn't get a drop of rain throughout the whole evening. Golfers teed off at 6:30 and finished their golf just after midnight, which was really cool for all of our out of town guests.鈥

In total 138 golfers took part in the tournament, many traveling from the Outside to experience a round of competitive golf late into the evening.

After 18-holes, it took a tiebreaker to decide a winner as two teams finished up the round knotted at 64.

Blaine and Shannon Tessier, Gord Starko and Nicole Baldwin emerged the winners.

Tom Amson, Wayne Crowe, Ricky Schmok and Bill Niven placed second.

Wiggins said one of the highlights of the evening was the play of the junior team who shot six under par.

James McGrath, Parker Olson, Mark McGrath and Logan Harris combined for a 66 on the night.

"Air North and Mountain View Golf Club did a great job of hosting the event, people were very satisfied with the event and we are looking forward to next years,鈥 said Wiggins.

The Air North Midnight Sun Scramble will return next year on June 22.
