Ewan Halliday was a finalist in the boys U-12 division of the Coquitlam Junior Spring Challenger at the Coquitlam Tennis Club in B.C. last weekend.

The Whitehorse junior was one of five Yukoners competing.
Keiran Halliday (boys U-18), Aline Halliday (girls U-18), Gentianne Graham (girls U-18) and Alex Roberts (boys U-14) also competed.
Ewan started his tournament with a 7-6(97), 6-1 win in the first round, and went on to face his age group's top seed, winning a hard fought battle 7-6 (74), 7-6(13).
He went on to win his semifinal match 7-6, 5-0, before his opponent withdrew after falling, but went on to drop the championship match to Gabriel Yun 2-6, 2-6.
Kieran Halliday played a tough three-hour match in the first round, losing 6-3, 1-6, 5-7.
The final match proved to be a battle however, with Kieran battling back from a 5-1 deficit to tie, before losing.
He went on to win his consolation singles match 8-0, but lost 8-4 in the consolation finals.
Kieran is currently playing high school tennis in B.C., where his team went undefeated during the regular season and qualified for provincials.
Aline Halliday lost her first round match 6-7(72), 5-7, and then faced fellow Yukoner Graham in the consolation round.
Halliday won 8-4, but lost in the consolation finals, 1-6, 2-6.
Aline is also currently playing high school tennis in B.C.
Graham was playing in her first B.C. tournament and struggled with a bad cold. She lost her first-round match 6-0, 6-0, before losing to Halliday in the consolation.
Roberts faced the No. 4 seed in the first round, losing 6-3, 6-1. He then lost in consolation 8-2.
