High school volleyball champs will be crowned this weekend

The high school volleyball season comes to a close on Saturday with the Yukon Championships at Porter Creek Secondary School.

The high school volleyball season comes to a close on Saturday with the Yukon Championships at Porter Creek Secondary School.

The event, run through Volleyball Yukon, began Thursday with games at three different schools.

Six different championships will be up for grabs Saturday, including: Grade 8 girls (final at 8 a.m.), Grade 8 boys (final at 9:30 a.m.), Grade 9/10 girls (final at 11 a.m.), Grade 9/10 boys (final at 12:30 p.m.), Grade 11/12 girls (final at 2 p.m.), and Grade 11/12 boys (final at 3:30 p.m.).

Medals will be awarded following each championship match, all of which will be played at Porter Creek.

Today, the Grade 8 teams play at Vanier Catholic Secondary School, the Grade 9/10 boys are at F.H. Collins Secondary School, and the Grade 9/10 girls, Grade 11/12 boys, and Grade 11/12 girls are all competing at Porter Creek.

In total, 42 teams from across the territory will compete in the Yukon Championships.
