Indiana Hoosiers senior Bronwyn Pasloski swam to a series of lifetime bests at last weekend's Big Ten championships in Minneapolis, Minn.
The 21-year-old Whitehorse swimmer, a co-captain of the Hoosiers swim and dive team, called the annual conference meet her "best one yet鈥 after setting lifetime bests in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 individual medley.
The Big Ten Conference is the oldest Division 1 collegiate athletic conference in the United States.
The Hoosiers finished second to the University of Minnesota's Golden Gophers in overall team standings.
Pasloski, the youngest daughter of Yukon Premier Darrell Pasloski, is in her final year with the Hoosiers.
Alongside her individual accomplishments, Pasloski swam the breaststroke in two team medley relays.
The Hoosiers broke the school's record while winning the 200-metre relay, then one-upped themselves by breaking both the Hoosiers and Big Ten record en route to the 400-metre relay title.
"Both were very exciting races to be part of ... definitely the highlight of my meet,鈥濃圥asloski said in an email to the Star.
Other members of the relay team included Brooklynn Snodgrass (backstroke), Gia Dalesandro (fly) and Kait Flederbach (free).
Individually, Pasloski went on to set lifetime bests in the 200 IM (1:58.74), the 200 breast (2:09.69), and the 100 breast (59.53).
"Unfortunately, my 100 breaststroke final was shortly after my 400 medley relay, in which I had a split of 59.18, and I failed to reproduce the same time,鈥濃圥asloski explained.
"Overall, I was out-touched for second, going a 59.90 and the winning time was a 59.80. It was a tough loss, but I was fairly happy knowing that I had the fastest breaststroke split in the 400 medley relay in comparison to the rest of the field.鈥
Pasloski's brisk time in the 200 breast also left her just shy of second place.
The results have the Yukon swimmer excited for the NCAA championships next month. It will mark her final appearance in the tournament.
"I hope to be an All-American (top eight) in my 100 and 200 breaststroke,鈥濃圥asloski said of her NCAA鈥坓oals.
She and the medley relay team are also hoping to contend for a medal and to break their own swim records set this past weekend.
"This season as a whole has been outstanding,鈥濃圥asloski said. "Both our men's and women's teams have been constantly turning the heads of other teams as the season has progressed. Everyone has been so determined and has worked so hard all year. I am very proud to see many of my teammates surprise themselves with how fast they can go.
"For myself, I鈥坅m very pleased that I have consistently gone faster over the course of the season. I鈥坵asn't completely rested for Big Tens, so I am very excited to see how NCAAs and Canadian nationals will go for me.鈥
While this season marks Pasloski's last as a Hoosier, she recently decided to continue training in Bloomington, Ind., for the next two years in a post-grad program leading up to the 2016 Rio Olympic trials.
