The territory鈥檚 recreational ski circuit is in full swing.
After Saturday鈥檚 Marsh Lake loppet, cross-country skiers are now turning their focus on the 29th annual Buckwheat Ski Classic.
The fun race, held on the Log Cabin ski trails north of Skagway, is now accepting registrations online.
Between 350 and 400 skiers are expected to compete in the race set for March 28.
This year鈥檚 theme, suggested by Skagway鈥檚 award-winning snow sculpture team, is 鈥淲inter is Coming, John Snow,鈥 a play on the popular book and TV series Game of Thrones.
The race is known for its colourful costumes and unique aid stations along the trail.
The Buckwheat will feature several distances, ranging from five to 50 kilometres. Awards will be given to the top three male and female skiers in each division, and a new Father
Mouchet Award will go to the most inspirational skier.
Racers who register by the end of February will receive a discount. Visit www.buckwheatskiclassic.com.
The ski event will be followed by an awards dinner at the Skagway Recreation Centre.
