For the sixth straight year, Sport Yukon's Kids Recreation Fund has accepted a donation from the CIBC Children's Foundation.
Britta Andreas, the Kid's Recreation Fund program facilitator accepted a cheque from Dean Knoblauch and Tyson Boychuk for $5,272.80 from the funds raised on CIBC Miracle Day.
Knoblauch and Boychuk are investment advisors with CIBC Wood Gundy.
The Kids Recreation Fund provides low-income families an opportunity to apply for funding for their children to participate in sport and recreational activities. This initiative, established in April 1999, helps kids whose families are experiencing financial hardship so that they may actively participate in sport, art, cultural, social and recreational programs.
The numbers of clients grows each year so Sport Yukon is very grateful for this donation.
For 13 years, the CIBC Children's Foundation has also supported HEROS in B.C. 鈥 a registered Canadian charitable organization committed to empowering children through ice hockey.
The premise of HEROS is to use the game of hockey as a catalyst to attract youth to a program offering support for education self-esteem building and life skills training.
"After we heard about the Kid's Recreation Fund we thought it would fit in our concept,鈥 said Knoblauch.
