Knutson, Liley, Mackay light up Flames in 11-2 Kilrich win

Mike Knutson, Walt Liley and Dean Mackay combined for 21 points between them as Kilrich beat up on the AON Flames 11-2 in Whitehorse oldtimer hockey action Sunday at Takhini Arena.

Knutson had four goals and five assists, Liley scored three goals to go with five assists, and Mackay had a hat trick and one assist of his own in the win.

Knutson now has 40 points on the year, while Liley has 38.

Rick Gingell had a goal and two assists, while Brian Gudmundson also had a pair of assists to round out the scoring.

The win pushes Kilrich's record to a second-best 20-14-3 in oldtimer standings this season.

The last-place Flames fall to 9-24-5.

Shawn Kinsela and Paul Lackowicz found the back of the net for AON.

Medicine Chest 5, Tim Hortons 3

Marty O'Hagan scored a pair of goals to lead Medicine Chest over Tim Hortons.

Gord Peterson and Guy Morgan each had a goal and assist in the win, while a single from Erik von Flotow rounded out the scoring.

League scoring leader Blayne Monahan scored twice for Tims, while Phil Borgel sniped a single and Ron Limoges had two assists.

Medicine Chest is now tied for third place with a 17-14-7 record, while Tim Hortons drops to eighth with a record of 13-17-7.

Performance Centre Turbos 8, Air North 4

Daryl Berube and Laurie Malo each scored a hat trick to lead the Turbos over Air North.

Berube also had three assists, while Malo added two in the win.

Andy McLeod scored a goal and two assists, and Brian Currie scored once and picked up an assist. Daniel Janke had three assists, and Pete McPeake two.

John Pereira scored twice for Air North, Ron Cruikshank had a goal and assist, and Dave Muir completed the scoring in the loss.

The Turbos improve to 18-14-5 for a share of third, while Air North dropped to fifth at 17-15-6.

Yukon Inn 2, Firth Rangers 2

The seventh-place Firth Rangers skated to a hard-fought tie with first-place Yukon Inn.

Mike Gau and Greg Charlie each had a goal and assist for the Rangers, while Lawrence Ignace and Gord Kuchler responded for the Inn.

The Yukon Inn leads the league with a 19-11-7 record.
