Koltun goes two and one at Junior Nationals

Yukon's junior women's curling team left the weekend with two wins and one loss as they continue to battle their way to the finals at the National Junior Championships in Fort McMurray, Alta.

Yukon's junior women's curling team left the weekend with two wins and one loss as they continue to battle their way to the finals at the National Junior Championships in Fort McMurray, Alta.

The team is led by skip Sarah Koltun and includes Chelsea Duncan, Patty Wallingham and Jenna Duncan. They're tied for third place in their pool with Alberta and Newfoundland and Labrador. Koltun's team won their first game, soundly beating Nunavut 20-0, losing to B.C. 10-7 in their second, and coming back in their third to take New Brunswick 6-5.

The women face off against Alberta at 2 p.m. today and Newfoundland and Labrador at 7:00 this evening.

The men's team, made up of Mitch Young, Will Mahoney, Joe Wallingham and Spencer Wallace took two losses and one win out of the weekend. They're tied for third place in their pool with Prince Edward Island.

Yukon beat Prince Edward Island 7-3 in their first game, losing to Ontario in their second match 9-5, and again to B.C. in their third 11-7.

The men's team is set to face Nunavut at 2:00 this afternoon and Alberta at 7:00.

Alberta, led by Yukon skip Thomas Scoffin pulled two wins and one loss out of the weekend. Alberta is currently tied for second in the same pool as Yukon with Ontario and Saskatchewan. Scoffin's team lost their first game 5-4 to Ontario, coming back to beat Saskatchewan 8-4, and Nunavut 22-2.

The men's finals are scheduled for Saturday and the women's for Sunday.
