The F.H. Warriors senior girls volleyball team kept the crowd engaged at the Supervolley finals Friday night.

The visiting team took out the Porter Creek Rams in five sets to take their first Supervolley title in recent memory.

鈥淔eels good. I think it鈥檚 the first time I鈥檝e ever been in the Supervolley finals, let alone win,鈥 said coach Adam Robinson. 鈥淔eels good. Feels nice. The girls are pretty happy.鈥

The Warriors won the first set 25-23, before dropping the next two 25-21 and 25-17.

鈥淭he girls just stopped communicating, stopped celebrating,鈥 said Robinson. 鈥淚n volleyball, when you鈥檙e not communicating, it鈥檚 hard to do everything right. When you鈥檙e not celebrating the little victories, it just makes it that much harder.

鈥淭hey didn鈥檛 start communicating until halfway through the fourth set and that鈥檚 when we started to play better.鈥

Their win in the fourth set forced the game into an extra set, which they won narrowly by three points.

鈥淚t feels so good,鈥 said tournament MVP Katelyn Holway of the Warriors. 鈥淲e worked really hard for this win.鈥

The Warriors struggled with errors, as they gave point after point to the Rams in a musical chairs rotation problem.

鈥淲e weren鈥檛 really sure how to fix it, so that really set us back,鈥 said Holway.

But the Warriors prevailed, working together as a team.

鈥淵ou just really want to keep your momentum up,鈥 said Holway. 鈥淵ou want to just be excited, loud and try to dominate over the other team.鈥

Rams coach Kim Hickman said small errors cost her team the win.

鈥淚t鈥檚 always a battle with F.H. and it really just came down to a couple small errors by our team and that was the difference in the game,鈥 she said.

But she said it was the best she鈥檚 seen the Rams play all season.

鈥淣o coach wants to lose, but if you do lose, then that鈥檚 the way you want to lose,鈥 she said.

The Rams and Warriors are likely to meet next at the Yukon鈥圕hampionships Nov. 24-26.
