Yukon hockey player Jonas Leas helped a Vancouver-based club win the Western Canadian Bantam AAA Championship title in Kelowna last weekend.

It took double overtime for the Winterhawks to edge the Lloydminster Heat 4-3 in what was a battle of B.C. and Alberta champions.

Nolan Kneen's slapshot goal in overtime helped the Winterhawks finish the tournament unbeaten – the only team to do so.

Leas, 14, served as an alternate player for the NSWC Winterhawks this season.

Last year, Leas captained the Whitehorse Wolverines to the Yukon Native Hockey Tournament's youth championship, scoring nine goals and adding four assists en route to winning the division's top scorer honours.
