The Royal Canadian Legion has been chosen as the recipient of the 2012 Corporate Excellence Award from the True Sport Foundation.

The Legion's interest in track and field extends back to the early 1950's with support of the Olympic Training program, national athlete clinics, and coaching clinics.

"The success of these early programs has resulted in the Legion's continued commitment to Canadian youth by funding the current Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships since its inception in 1977,鈥 said Gordon Moore, Dominion President of the Legion.

Since 1977, the Legion has sponsored thousands of Canadian athletes to reach their potential, and directly influenced the majority of Canadian Olympic track athletes.
