Prolonged winter weather delayed the start of the Whitehorse Minor Soccer outdoor season, but it got underway in a hurry last week.

The new season began May 13 and 14, when local fields finally were dubbed snow-free and dry.
"All of the younger divisions are doing well,鈥 the organization's administrator Hanne Hoefs told the Star. "The strongest division is seven-and-under, where we have 10 teams.鈥

Under-8
Boston Pizza blanked Jacob's Industries 2-0 May 16. Goalscorers were not provided, but MVP for Boston Pizza was Ken Stalder, and William Doucet was top defender.
Cassandra Cebuliak was MVP for Jacob's Industries, while Rufus Campbell was named super corner kicker.
Also that night, Tim Hortons shut out Builders Supplyland 4-0. MVPs were Jonny Timmons and Leif Cunning. Murraya Dental beat Robert Service 7-5 with MVP honours going to Ryder Brulotte for some great goals and Alexie Guilbeault for her awesome passes.

Under-9
On May 21, Budget Plumbing and Heating edged All Yukon Refridgeration 5-4 after a four-goal performance by Ty Beacon. Tristan Yule added a single while Peyton Mason was player of the game. Sawyer Adams also scored four goals in a losing effort and was named his club's player of the game.
Yukonhost.com beat Earth Tek Drilling 5-3 thanks to a hat trick from team MVP Gavin Howells and a pair of goals from Ryder Twardochleb. Earth Tek MVP Marko Cooper (2) and Gavin Spence replied in the loss.
It's Lunch Time shut out Mic Mac Toyota 7-0 on the strength of a four-goal output from team MVP Daniel Tonner, and singles from Ivan Johnson, Antoine Krahn and Gabrielle Perreault.
In action May 16, Budget Plumbing and Heating shut out Earth Tek 4-0 after a hat trick by Ty Beacon. John Tipton also scored while Trinity Asp was player of the game. Gavin Spence was Earth Tek's MVP.
Yukonhost.com edged Mic Mac Toyota 3-2 on goals by Josh Willoughby, Zach Willoughby, and player of the game Trisha Gayangos. Isaac O'Brien and Cooper Muir responded for Mic Mac, with Travis Wilcox winning player of the game.
Under-10
On May 15, La Bicicletta B&B edged Titan Gaming 3-2 on goals by Abby Rich, Jasmine Sealy and Seth Bennett. Arya Khoda Karami won player of the game honours. Joshua Lauer and Curtis Cash replied for Titan Gaming, with Nikos Legere-Melanson winning MVP.
Meanwhile, Northern Lights Optometry beat Medicine Chest 2-1 with goals from Simon Hassard and Kalina LaRochelle. Simon Lauer played a strong game and was named MVP. Daniel Wilberforce got the lone goal for Medicine Chest, while his entire team took MVP honours.
La Bicicletta B&B beat Medicine Chest 6-1 on May 13, on the strength of goals from Caius Taggart-Cox (2), Nathan Scully (2), Abby Rich and Arya Khodakarami, while Kamrim Yeulet was their player of the game. Tristin Promozich replied for Medicine Chest, while Daniel Wilberforce was their player of the game.
In other games that night, Northern Lights Optometry tied Titan Gaming 2-2. Simon Hassard and Alan Johnson scored for Northern Lights, with Syth Charchun taking player of the game honours. Joshua Lauer and Curtis Cash scored for Titan Gaming, with Victor Tolgyesi named player of the game.
