Local mushing series gets green light

After cancelling their season opener twice due to poor snow conditions on the Copper Haul Road, the Yukon鈥圔rewing Twister Race Series is set to begin Sunday,鈥圖ec. 22.

After cancelling their season opener twice due to poor snow conditions on the Copper Haul Road, the Yukon鈥圔rewing Twister Race Series is set to begin Sunday,鈥圖ec. 22.

"We finally have some snow, and the dogs are ready to have fun,鈥 stated a press release issued by Dog Powered Sports Association of the Yukon.

The first official race of the season will take place at Darryl and Katherine Sheepway's home on Annie Lake Road.

Registration is at 10 a.m., while the race starts at 11.

The race is open to both skijorers and bikejorers, with two options for trail distances 鈥 including distances of three kilometres and 16-plus km.

Prizes from a variety of sponsors will be handed out post-race.
