Two Yukon cities have been dubbed as top mountain biking destinations by Outside magazine, a major American publication with a subscription base of more than 600,000.
The April issue labeled Whitehorse and Carcross as top biking destinations for vacationers in 2013.
The magazine lauds the single-track trail network developed between the two cities, including a seasonal crew that maintains more than 800 kilometres of trails.
According to Outside, in the last decade, a mix of mining, animal and recreational paths have been connected, rivaling Vancouver's North Shore.
Local company Boreale Biking's popular five-day summer solstice trip also received a nod as a top holiday choice for potential vacationers.
"We were very pleased to see the Outside article,鈥 said Boreale Biking co-owner Marsha Cameron. "Outside magazine is arguable the biggest outdoor active magazine in the U.S. and has a readership that matches our target market.鈥
Cameron said the award is "a great kudos鈥 to all involved in the local biking sector, including trail maintenance crews, bicycle clubs, and bike shops.

That's awesome news. Congratulations to everyone that has ever helped make a trail or shown an Outsider a wicked run.

Wow! That is fantastic! Congratulations to the people in Carcross who built those trails, and to Boreale. You make us proud.
