McKenna snipes four goals as Red Dragons top Blue Rodeo

Krystal McKenna scored four goals and added two assists as the Red Dragons scorched Blue Rodeo 7-1 in Whitehorse Women's Hockey League action yesterday at Takhini Arena.

Krystal McKenna scored four goals and added two assists as the Red Dragons scorched Blue Rodeo 7-1 in Whitehorse Women's Hockey League action yesterday at Takhini Arena.

McKenna, who is sixth in the league in scoring, was dominant all game long as the Dragons improved their top season record to 29-5-1.

With the loss, Blue Rodeo fell to fifth in the six-team league with a record of 12-18-5.

Nicole Petersen added a goal and assist, while Meagan Bridge and Cody Claggett also found the back of the net.

Substitute player Sasha Merrell had the lone goal for Blue Rodeo.

Gold Diggers 3, The Beasts 1

The Beasts' slide continued Saturday night, when they dropped a 3-1 game to the Gold Diggers at the Canada Games Centre.

Jonnie-Lyn Kushniruk led the way for Gold with a goal and assist, while Sarah Todd and Haley Tomlin each added a single.

Substitute Danielle Hodgson, the league's leading scorer with 32 goals, 21 assists, scored the lone goal for the Beasts.

Despite the loss, the Beasts remain alone in second place with a 16-13-5 record.

The third-place Gold Diggers closed the gap slightly, however, improving to 13-18-5.

Red Dragons 4, Black Ice 3

Shannon Stotyn's pair of goals helped the Dragons edge the Ice Saturday night.

Petersen and Hodgson each added a goal and assist in the win.

Kushniruk scored twice for Black Ice in the loss, while Merrell also scored.

While Hodgson is tops in league scoring, Beasts' centre Laura Grieve remains in second with 31 goals and nine assists. Tomlin is third, with 22 goals and 15 assists.
