Minor soccer season off to roaring start

Youngsters across the city took to the pitch earlier this month to begin a brief but busy soccer season.

Youngsters across the city took to the pitch earlier this month to begin a brief but busy soccer season.

The outdoor Whitehorse Minor Soccer schedule, which opened in the first week of May, will wrap up in mid-June with championship tournaments for each division.

Scores reported from last week's games are as follows:

In U-15 action, Yukon Pump beat Crowe MacKay 7-5 thanks to a standout performance by Gabriel Nadon.

Sphinx Orthodontics also beat Crowe MacKay 8-1, while Yukon Pump edged Take 5 Massage 4-2.

Meanwhile in U-13 play, Maddie Nicholson scored a hat trick and Jenika Lindley added a pair as Fenix House beat Safety Management 10-6.

Jamie Phillips-Freedman also had a pair of strikes to lead Adorna Landscaping over Coates Services 4-2, while Hunter Sandulak and Bryce Anderson scored for The Eagles in a 2-2 draw versus Vector Research. Ben Kischuk and Jason Sealy scored for Vector.

In U-11 action, Connor Cozens and Errol Ekholm both sniped hat tricks in Titan Gaming's 8-0 win over Martin Contracting, while Arya Khodakarami also scored three goals for It's Lunch Time in a 3-3 tie with North of Ordinary. Ty Beacon, Taliya Lindley and Hugo Burgess had North of Ordinary's goals.

In U-10 action, Hunter Long scored all three goals for SDC Software in a 3-0 win over Budget Plumbing and Heating while Access Consulting beat All Yukon Refrigeration 2-0 on goals by Sawyer Adams and Clayton Chapman.

Finally, Daniel Phillips-Freedman scored a hat trick in U-9 play to lead Tim Hortons to a 7-4 win over Whitehorse Auto Spa. Luke Cozens and Samuel Sikkes both scored twice in the win, while Johnny Timmons had all four goals in the loss.

Also, Seth Sheardown-Waugh's five-goal outburst helped Paintball Yukon beat Whitehorse Auto Spa 5-0, while Cambio Consulting beat Builders Supplyland 5-3.

A variety of games were also played in the U-8 and U-7 divisions, with many of the territory's youngest players showing improvement.
