Nordic ski travel teams announced for two 2017 competitions

Yukon nordic skiers found out this week if they would get to attend two Outside competitions.

The travelling teams for the world junior/ U-23 trials in Soldier Hollow, Utah and the Eastern Canadian XC Ski Championships were announced Thursday.

The athletes eligible for travelling teams changes depending on each race, said Cross-Country Yukon coach Alain Masson.

The CCY high performance committee used points achieved in the Canada Points List so far this season.

Selected to attend the world junior/ U-23 trials from Jan. 4 to 11 are:

Amanda Thomson, Hannah Deuling, Natalie Hynes, Mira Mason, Hannah Jirousek, Caelan Pangman McLean, Marcus Deuling and Michael Kishchuk.

The athletes selected for the Eastern Canadian XC鈥圫ki Championships in Gatineau, Que. from Feb. 1 to 6 are:

Thomson, Hannah Deuling, Sonjaa Schmidt, Mason,鈥圖erek Deuling, Pangman McLean, Ben Puskas, Nichollis Schmidt, Kishchuk, Victor Thibeault, Sasha Masson and Romeo Champagne.
