North Yukon dominated the A final of the Whitehorse Recreational Hockey League Rendezvous tourney with a 10-2 win over the Northern Construction Grinders in a rough and tumble affair at the Takhini Arena Sunday.

鈥淚t was good,鈥 said North Yukon captain Jamie Tetlichi. 鈥淚t started out chippy but it was pretty fun. Haven鈥檛 played a tourney in a couple years so it鈥檚 nice to get back out there with all the guys in the room there.

鈥淢ost of our rec league team is in there. We added a couple of guys, so it was pretty fun.鈥

Tetlichi was asked what he thought was the key to the dominant game for his team.

鈥淲e just had three solid lines that we played the whole tournament. We鈥檝e got good chemistry between these three lines and we just ended up rolling all three.鈥

Riley Pettitt led the way for North Yukon with a hat trick and an assist.

Trevor Hanna added two goals for the victors.

Evan Campbell chipped in with a goal and two assists for the champs.

Ryan Bursey, Aaron Pettitt, Cole Williams and Morris Morrisson (great name!) added singles.

Clayton Thomas and Troy Bourke replied for the Grinders.

North Yukon got off to a fast start and led 6-1 after the first of two periods.

There was one fight in the game and several hits that left players sprawling on the ice. Regarding the rough stuff, Tetlichi said 鈥淚 told the guys 鈥楰eep it calm, we鈥檙e here to play hockey.鈥 It was pretty fun otherwise.鈥

According to Tetlichi, they are going 鈥渄irectly to playoffs, so get back to the rec league and hopefully win that, too.鈥

He added they are feeling 鈥減retty confident, so we鈥檒l just keep it rolling and finish off the season strong, hopefully.鈥

Five womens鈥 teams and 13 mens鈥 teams took part in the tourney. Miss Dana beat the Yetis 4-2 to take the womens鈥 championship.

Castle Rock edged Remax 4-3 to win the men鈥檚 B crown.
