The Northern Novas were back in the water this weekend for their annual Spring Water Show at the Canada Games Centre.

Led by coaches Aura-lea Harper, Simone Kitchen, Chrissy Spinks, Heather Harris and Olivia Duncan, the swimmers performed six routines in the hour-long program.

The swimmers and coaches work together to perfect themed routines, said Harper.

"Usually the coaches come up with the themes and it goes from there,鈥 she said.

Robinson-Boivin began the show with a solo performance with a celtic theme.

Next up were the Big Dippers group, which consisted of Camilla Hallock, Taylor Jobin, Indiana Pumphrey and Alyssa Steele and were coached by Duncan.

The Little Dippers, Victoria Hallock and Kalina Morrison, swam to the theme of defying gravity and were lead by coaches Spinks and Kitchen in their duet.

The program also included two more solo performances from Duncan and Catherine Seal, as well a can-can themed program by the trio of Jamie Duke, Samatha Steele and Katie Vowk.

"It was a good show,鈥 said Harper. "Lots of people showed up so it was great.鈥

The show also featured a special performance by Taylor Hanna.

Hanna, a Northern Novas alumni who placed tenth overall at the 2011 Halifax Canada Games in a duet with Kitchen, returned from university to participate in the annual event.

"She came back do a show and that was great,鈥 said Harper, who has been coaching the team for seven years.

"It went very well.鈥

With the annual event completed, summer synchronized swimming registration is now open.

The Novas are offering competitive and recreational summer sessions between July 10 and August 16 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The competitive swimmers will be led by Harper, who will be conducting hour and a half long sessions.

The recreational swimming classes, which are limited to six spots, will be led by Hanna and be held over hour-long sessions.

The Dippers will be back in the pool tonight for their "bring a friend鈥 event, where members of the team invite a partner into the water for an introduction for synchronized swimming.
