Canadian Olympic basketball 麻豆社区Kim Smith will be in Whitehorse next week to host a skills camp.
The 2012 Future Stars All Girls Territorial Basketball Camp will be held at F.H. Collins High School from Dec. 21 to 23.
Athletes, coaches and sports fans in general are invited to attend Basketball Night in Whitehorse with Smith at Boston Pizza on Saturday, Dec. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
"This will be a fun evening and a great way to celebrate the game of basketball in the Yukon and in Canada,鈥 said Tim Brady of Basketball Yukon.
Smith is a 10-time Canadian National Women's Basketball Team member, former WNBA player and 2012 Canadian Olympic Women's Basketball team member.
The 6-foot-1 guard from Mission, B.C. served as a calming influence on the 2012 Olympic team, which marked Canada's first appearance on the Olympic hardcourt in 12 years.
Canada was eliminated by the eventual gold medal winning U.S. in the quarter-finals, 91-48.
The 28-year-old was one of three players on the squad to have played in two world championships and an Olympics.
Smith was the 13th overall pick in the 2006 WNBA draft and played three seasons for the Sacramento Monarchs before playing professionally in Belgium and Spain.
The skills camp is open to competitive athletes between the ages of 11 and 17.
Those interested can register at Sport Yukon in advance. Enrollment is limited to 20 players.
Basketball Night in Whitehorse is hosted by Basketball Yukon with support from Boston Pizza and the Future Stars Camps.
