whopping 41 participants taking on a course behind Yukon College.
The event included a fund-raiser barbecue hosted by the junior program. The food was enjoyed by all, as were the stories shared from the juniors' summer competition.
The novice course was 2.3 km and included 14 controls. It was taken on by several family and friends groups.
Top finishers included Alliya Thomson and Fran Nyman (26:23), Curtis and Steve Cash (39:38) and Zeke Dukart and Jan Malfair (40:03).
The second course was designed to have a handicap system and was a combination of a regular course and a score of where the orienteer decides which controls they will go to and in what order.
Fifteen participants chose to travel to nine controls.
Young Savannah Cash had an excellent result and slipped in just seconds ahead of Lara Melnik. The next six finishers were all within a few minutes.
The top three finishers were Cash (34:50), Melnik (34:57) and Joe Bradley (37:00).
Seventeen orienteers chose to visit all the controls on the course. Forest Pearson led the way, followed closely by Afan Jones, with some close finishes between third and eighth.
Top finishers were Pearson (25:46), Jones (28:47) and Ross Burnett (35:28).
