Macdonald leads Pepsi to the promised land

Danny Macdonald鈥檚 Pepsi team has had to withstand a disappointing start to the season, but this result, coupled with last week鈥檚 win, has catapulted this Pepsi squad toward the summit of the league, and made the other teams re-evaluate how they think about them.

Yukon Brewing are a well organised, capable team, but they were dismantled by a thoroughly excellent performance from Pepsi as they ran out 5-2 winners in Over 35鈥檚 soccer action.

The skipper Macdonald has found his range in front of the net as he added two more to his tally.

He was aided by goals from River Walton and Justin Carre, who both put in fine performances. Pepsi knew it would be a good day when Chris Stacey scored, an event comparable to the big bang.

Yukon Brewing were all effort, but rather goal-shy in front of the target, with only Kruno Kunovic and Fabian Glyka getting on the scoresheet.

Hartmann worth the admission fee alone

Matthias Hartmann has the dark smouldering good looks of a 1940鈥檚 screen idol, and his soccer prowess cemented his place in Whitehorse Rapids folklore, as again he was the difference between the two sides. His three goals helped Yukoninfo.com beat Air North Rangers 4-2 and move them to the top of the league.

Hartmann certainly adds female admirers to the viewing gallery. He also has many players in the league in awe; they would love his speed and skill for their own. For example, Eric Murphy. He was once a champion sprinter in his own right in Ireland (although sadly those days have gone now), he remains a wily competitor and helped the Yukoninfo.com cause with another goal.

The result leaves Air North Rangers anchored to the foot of the table, but skipper Iain Breckenridge, much like Hannibal Smith from the A team, will have a plan to rectify results.

Ciaran Connolly and Juergen Korn got the goals for Air North.

Classic game ends tied

Driving Force are the surprise package of the league this year. They may be short of the 麻豆社区quality the other teams have, but they make it up with fortitude and resilience as they took unbeaten Klondike Business Solutions to the wire in a 5-5 draw.

One thing you can guarantee from a Driving Force game is that there will be goals, and they flowed like a Nova Scotian wedding.

Both teams had the lead, as the pendulum swung from one team鈥檚 advantage to the other, with neither side about to land the knockout punch.

Veteran player Guliano Rayo grabbed two for Driving Force as did the imperious JP Ladroue, and Jesse Koeller scored a smart goal.

KBS鈥檚 goals came from an unlikely source. Mark Wickham, who didn鈥檛 score the whole of last season, picked up two.

There was also two for Michael Zuccarini. Captain fantastic Greg Grady rounded out the scoring for KBS.

Next week, KBS take on Yukoninfo.com in a top of the table clash, while Driving Force will try to get their first win of the season against Pepsi, as Air North Rangers take on Yukon Brewing.
