Firth Rangers forwards Guy Gorrell and Joel Witten alternated goals until each had scored a hat trick, before proceeding to set up their teammates for three more goals in a 9-1 shellacking of the oldtimer Air North Jets at Takhini Arena last night.

Witten assisted on the seventh and eighth goals by Ryan Henning and Ernie Jamieson, while Gorrell set up Garrett Zacharius for Firth's final goal on the night.

Mike Jim scored the lone goal for Air North, which remains stalled at four wins in 38 games this season.

With the win, the Rangers improved to 20-14-4, good for fourth place in the nine-team league.

In other action last night, Chad Cowan scored twice to lead Yukon Inn over Medicine Chest 4-2.

Warren Kapaniuk and Andrew Smith also scored in the win. Yukon Inn improves to 18-15-4.

Blaine Monahan and Ron Limoges had goals for Medicine Chest (15-17-6) in the loss.

In action Wednesday night, the AON Flames beat the Klondyke Dental Molars 4-1.

Mike Rispin had two goals and an assist, while Regis St. Pierre also scored twice and Paul Lackowicz recorded two assists for the league-leading Flames (23-9-5).

Mike Blower had the lone goal in the loss for the Molars (17-17-4).

Meanwhile, EDI edged Tim Hortons 3-2 thanks to two goals by Jared Barrault. Matt Willes added a goal and an assist for EDI (21-12-4), while Pat Tobler had two helpers.

Curt Campbell and Peter Johnston scored in the loss, while Rick Smith had two assists, and league scoring leader Darrell Sturko had an assist to pad his total to 69 points (25 goals, 44 assists).

On Sunday, Adam Green sniped a hat trick to lead EDI over Kilrich 5-1. Brian Currie had the only goal for Kilrich (10-22-5) in the loss.

In other Sunday action, Klondyke Dental defeated Yukon Inn 5-3 thanks to a balanced offence that included five different scorers.

Tim Hortons beat Firth 3-1, while Medicine Chest beat up on Air North 9-5. Monahan, the league's second-leading scorer led the way with four goals, while Sean Kinsella had a pair.

Next weekend, the league will host its annual Whitehorse Oldtimer Hockey Tournament. Last year, Dawson City and Watson Lake won the respective A and B titles.
