Petersen tallies six points to lead Red Dragons over Gold Diggers

The Red Dragons were propelled to a 6-1 win over the Gold Diggers in women's hockey action Wednesday on the strength of a six-point night by Nicole Petersen.

The Red Dragons were propelled to a 6-1 win over the Gold Diggers in women's hockey action Wednesday on the strength of a six-point night by Nicole Petersen.

Petersen led the Dragons with three goals and three assists. Teammate Rosie Cobbett added two goals and an assist and Taryn Parker had the only other marker.

Sarah Todd scored the only goal for the Gold Diggers, assisted by Jasmine Kaytor.

In the only other game last night, Whitesnake edged The Beasts 3-2.

Christina Lawrence scored twice for Whitesnake and Kathleen Jarvis scored the other, with Jocelyn Barrett and Kim Schlosser adding assists.

Amy Vander Weir and Jenny Russell each scored once for The Beasts, and Amanda Ford, Haley Tomlin and Joelle Hodgins contributed assists.

On Tuesday night, Black Ice defeated the Gold Diggers 2-1. Sasha Merrell lead the Ice offence with a goal and one assist. Vanessa Bogaert scored the other goal and Jules MacMillan notched up an assist.

On Sunday, Black Ice defeated Whitesnake 4-2, with Jonnie-Lyn Kushniruk scoring twice while Bogaert contributed a goal and two assists. Jen Olsen scored one for the Ice and Annette King tallied an assist.

Lindy-Jo Aston and Kylie Bird scored one each for Whitesnake and Kathleen Davis and Jocelyn Barret added assists.

On Saturday it was the Dragons 5, The Beasts 1; Black Ice 4, Blue Rodeo 1.

Danielle Hodgson, Haley Tomlin and Alyssa Beckett anchored the Red Dragons offence with three points apiece: Hodgson with two goals and an assist, while Tomlin and Beckett each scored once with two assists apiece. Taryn Parker scored once for the Dragons, and Julie Menard contributed an assist.

Hodgson also led the offence for Black Ice in Saturday's late game with two goals, while Jules MacMillan and Beckett notched a goal and two assists each.

Caili Steel scored the lone marker for Blue Rodeo on assists from Meghan Marjanovic and Laura Grieve.
