Amanda McCarthy, Christina Lawrence and Isabel Lindemann provided the scoring for Whitesnake, and goalie Vero Lafond did the rest in the upset win.
Cheri Malo and Jasmine Kaytor responded for the Gold Diggers.
Whitesnake will now face the second-place Green Beasts in a playoff game Wednesday at the Canada Games Centre.
Whitesnake ended the regular season with just eight wins in 36 games.
Blue Rodeo 4, Black Ice 3
In the first playoff matchup of the season Saturday, fifth-place Blue Rodeo edged third-place Black Ice in a 4-3 thriller.
Candice MacEachen scored twice to lead Blue Rodeo, while Stephanie Hedley had a goal and one assist. Coralie Ullyett rounded out the scoring, while Jen King had two helpers.
Sue Hamilton scored twice and had an assist on Sasha Merrell's goal for Black Ice. Merrell also assisted on both of Hamilton's goals.
Blue Rodeo will now face off with the first-place Red Dragons Tuesday night at the Canada Games Centre. The Dragons finished the regular season with a record of 29-5-2.
The Whitehorse Women's Hockey Association's playoffs are a double elimination format.
The championship game will take place March 28 at Takhini Arena at 6:45 p.m.
