A goal less than a minute into last night's oldtimer hockey game spelled trouble for EDI.

The Firth Rangers would add three more in the next 10 minutes to go up 4-0 after the first.

The Rangers would go on to force a final showdown for the oldtimer hockey championship with a 5-1 win over EDI, who had been the only unbeaten team in the double-elimination oldtimer playoff format.

Derek Torgenson scored less than one minute into the game, beating keeper Jason Adams, who is filling in for an injured Brendan Kelly.

Garrett Zacharius put the Rangers up 2-0 with a quick shot off a faceoff less than five minutes later.

Glen Heinbigner scored just over a minute later, snapping a high shot past Adams from the slot.

Brent Stokes and Torgenson would add singles later in the game.

Adam Green scored the only goal for EDI, beating Scott Casselman while shorthanded in the second period.

EDI and Firth finished tied in the regular season standings with identical records of 23-15-4.

The Rangers lost early in the playoffs and will need to beat EDI again tonight to claim the trophy.

The championship game goes tonight at the Canada Games Centre at 8 p.m.
