More than 160 walkers and runners took to the Millenium Trail for the 23rd annual Law Day Charity Fun Run and Walk to raise money for charity and welcome spring.
More than 160 walkers and runners took to the Millenium Trail for the 23rd annual Law Day Charity Fun Run and Walk to raise money for charity and welcome spring.
The event marks the beginning of the running season as participants walk or run the six kilometre-trail.
Approximately $4,500 was raised through registration fees and will be donated to the Learning Disabilities Association of Yukon.
More than 50 school children from Holy Family and Selkirk Elementary participated, much to the delight of organizers.
"It was really great,鈥 said Heather MacFadgen, a member of the organizing committee.
"This was the first time this run has had so many school children running. That added a wonderful energy to the whole event. It was a great family and all ages event.鈥
A cold wind off the Yukon River didn't deter participants,
"It was really windy,鈥 said MacFadgen. "It was the windiest run I've ever done.鈥
Organizers thanked volunteers for timekeeping and the city for clearing the lingering snow from the trail.
Caelan McLean was the top finisher, with a time of 23:02.
Stephan Atmanspacher was second with a time of 23:04, while Robert Gillis also finished top three in 23:18.
Rounding out the top-10 were Lauren Whyte, Don White, Bradley Avery, Rob Reese, Sue Bogle, Elden Pfeiffer, Deb Johanson and Ross Knox.
