A national ski hill safety campaign will return to the slopes at Mt. Sima this weekend.
After SNOWSMART was successfully introduced to five pilot ski hills across Canada in December, including Mt. Sima, it's parent organization Parachute is bringing it back by popular demand.
Parachute, a national charitable organization, has partnered with Canadian Ski Patrol and Snowboard Canada on this education campaign that tackles three risky behaviours 鈥 excessive speed, loss of control and collisions with people or objects.
The SNOWSMART team will visit Mt. Sima on Saturday for another round of snow sport safety awareness through their "Get Caught鈥 initiative.
Prizes including candies and lip balm will be awarded to young skiers "caught鈥 skiing in control, and making smart decisions on the hills.
Skiers and boarders have until March 17 to get their videos in to the public service announcement competition. Open to all Canadians, entrants are asked to create a short snow sport safety announcement that highlights at least one of the campaign's key messages.
Cash prizes will be awarded.
