The Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club stadium will be transformed and filled with young athletes, music, fun and games Saturday morning.

From 11 a.m. to noon, the club will host "Around the World in 60 Minutes,鈥 the first of two Tim Hortons Ski'll Fest days being hosted by Cross Country Yukon.

The event is meant for children age seven and up.

The organization will teach balance, speed and agility through dryland training using a variety of fun-filled stations which teams will rotate through.

Countries and cultures will be the overarching focus, and each station will have a different theme. Children who love winter and have a worldly sense of adventure will be most pleased.

"It's meant to get kids excited about skiing,鈥 Jan Downing of Cross Country Yukon explained. "We're not going to do any technique work. We're going to be playing games, doing relays.鈥

Cross Country Yukon's Green Squad, ages 12 to 14, will lead the youth through the station events.

"They're super-excited about this opportunity,鈥 Downing said. "They've been preparing for the last two weeks.鈥

Following the festivities, the group will head up to the Grey Mountain Room at the Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre for some food and Tim Hortons treats.

The event is free. Bring your running shoes.
