The following trail report was released by the Whitehorse Nordic Centre yesterday:
Our groomers have been very busy this week and the skiing is beautiful on the trails.
Grooming has been done on most of our popular trails including Copper to Crossroads, the lit trails, Dog, Sundog and Lower Valley. Some sections of the Lower Valley are very hummocky, so please use caution.
The Sarah Steele Inner and Outer Loops have been packed this week. The World Cup 10 km, 7.5 km, Pierre Harvey and Selwyn's Loop Copper from Crossroads to Gravel Pit, Logan Burn, Raven, World Cup 5 km, Monique Waterreus, 007, Cox Leg, and Upper Valley have been groomed recently and are still good for classic and skating.
Ketza Connector is now open. Skiers with dogs departing from the ski chalet must go over the bridge and down Ketza. Please keep dogs on a leash until the bottom of Telemark Hill. Skiers are reminded that the dog rules are in effect 24/7 over the winter. Ski-jorers must follow the same rules.
Day passes or ski club memberships are required to use the Whitehorse Nordic Centre trails and are available at the Ski Base. Notice for all trail users: please wear season/day passes.
Trail lights are now on for the season. They are on Monday to Friday from dusk to 9:30 p.m. and will be turned off when the temperature is below -30 C.
Snowshoers are always welcome at the club but must also pay trail fees.
This Saturday a beginner's clinic will be offered at 2 p.m. Call the club at 668-4477 for more information.
