Yukon鈥檚 Smallwood rink is one game away from elimination at the 2017 Canadian Mixed Curling Championships.

Skipped by Robert Smallwood, the team features Shannon Hall as lead, Scott Odian in second and Jody Smallwood in third.

The Mixed Curling Championships are in Yarmouth, N.S. this year with 14 teams from across the country taking part.

The teams are on their last day of round-robin play with the top four teams from Pool A and Pool B advancing to the Championship round.

Yukon conceded its first game 8-3 against Newfoundland/ Labrador after seven ends and lost their second to host Nova Scotia 5-2.

They won their third game against the Alberta rink 9-6, but lost to New Brunswick 4-6.

They conceded their penultimate round-robin game to undefeated Ontario, which remains at the top of Pool A.

Yukon鈥檚 final draw of the round-robin will be against P.E.I. It鈥檚 a do-or-die game if the team has any hope of moving on to the next round. 颅

At the 2016 Canadian Mixed Curling Championships, Team Yukon placed eighth, its best-ever result at the event, after qualifying for the championship round.

The rink, skipped by Smallwood (Jody Smallwood as lead, third Nicole Baldwin and second Wade Scoffin) was eliminated after losing four-straight in the championship pool and finished with a 3-7 record.

Smallwood wasn鈥檛 put off however and told the Star a Yukon rink in the top four wouldn鈥檛 be out of the question in the future.

鈥淚鈥坱hink Yukon鈥檚 got a shot at the mixed,鈥 he said. 鈥淚f you can put a good mixed team together and curl consistently, a top-four placing wouldn鈥檛 be out of the question.鈥

Team Yukon (1-4) will face Team PEI (2-3) this afternoon.
