Sports Day goes Saturday at CGC
The City of Whitehorse will join with municipalities across the country on Saturday to celebrate Sports Day in Canada.
The City of Whitehorse will join with municipalities across the country on Saturday to celebrate Sports Day in Canada.
The activities will be held at the Canada Games Centre from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be a variety of displays available as well as a number of activities, including Dene games, Zumba, underwater hockey, aikido, archery, and more.
The event will "celebrate sport on all levels,鈥� said city mayor Bev Buckway. "We would like to invite Whitehorse residents to join the city and local sports clubs in a day of fun and activities at the Canada Games Centre.鈥�
The events are free to the public.
"We encourage all members of this community to come and see some of the options for staying active in our community,鈥� added Linda Rapp, acting director of community and recreation services.
Whitehorse citizens are also invited to participate in Jersey Day on Friday, Sept. 28. Rapp said Jersey Day is a time "where everyone can celebrate sport by wearing the jersey of their favourite team.鈥�
