Squash leagues wrap up with tightly played finals
Domino鈥檚 Pizza and Midnight Sun Coffee Roasters are the class of the Whitehorse squash scene, after winning their respective league finals this week.

Domino鈥檚 Pizza won the Tuesday Night (A) League championship 16-14 over Assante Financial, with Sam Penner clinching the win despite a 3-2 loss to Peter Mather in the final match of the night at Better Bodies Fitness.
Penner鈥檚 teammates this year were Dylan Letang, Stephen Buckler and Marc Jubinville.
The regular Assante lineup, meanwhile, featured Cam Webber, Doug Thorseth, Shahid Syed and Jason Steele.
Yukon Tree Services took third place after downing Ecological Logistics and Research 17-11 Tuesday.
Action resumed last night, with Midnight Sun Coffee Roasters earning the Thursday Night (B)鈥圠eague crown with a 20-16 win over The Electrical Shop Ltd.
The key matchup saw Midnight Sun鈥檚 Mackenzie Cameron take down his dad, Kirk Cameron, 3-2 with the last game going all the way to the wire before son beat father 16-14.
Midnight Sun鈥檚 usual roster this season featured Micah Smith, Alex Jobin, Cameron, Jada Kwok-Smith and Adriane Epprecht.
The crew finished the season in fourth but discovered their game in time for the playoffs.
The Electrical Shop Ltd., meanwhile, featured Jonathan Hawkins, David Buckler, Patti Flather, Katherine Krabel and Kashif Zafar.
Additioinally, Chilkoot Chiropractic downed Aurora Geosciences 21-14 to take third.
This season was a 鈥渕ajor success,鈥� newly minted Squash鈥圷ukon president Buckler told the Star.
鈥淢any novice players showed interest in playing last year, so team sizes in the Thursday league were expanded to allow for more participation,鈥� he explained.
鈥淲e saw an increase of seven new players and seven new subs for Thursday Night League.
鈥淪quash Yukon would like to see more players having more fun and challenging matches in league, as it is the backbone of the squashing community up North.鈥�
