Haines Junction's St. Elias Cross Country Ski Club will host its second annual fund-raiser next week.

The Family Ski FUNction will take place Saturday, March 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the forestry trails, located five km north of Haines Junction on the Alaska Highway. Entry to the event is by donation.

"We are excited to showcase the development of improved cross-country skiing trails in Haines Junction,鈥 the club stated in a press release. "There will be beautifully-groomed and track-set trails with maps available for self-guided tours.鈥

Games for children will begin at noon, and prizes will be awarded to all participants.

The 鈥楾ube Steak Twister' fun ski park will also be set up for skiers hoping to test their skills.

Guided trail tours will also be held for those who enjoy group skis, beginning at 1 p.m.

The Silver Sled race committee will also offer a 鈥楥atch and Release' mushing race for children alongside a skijoring workshop.

Of course, a good Yukon party is never complete without a wiener roast and hot chocolate.

The St. Elias ski club was founded two years ago and invested in a variety of grooming equipment last season, thanks to funding courtesy of the Yukon Government.
