The Yukon Ski Team heads into its first big test of the season this weekend with a pair of races at the Sovereign Lakes Ski Club in southern B.C.

Led by ski team head coach Alain Masson, skiers Janelle Greer, Dahria Beatty, Kendra Murray, Heidi Brook, Knute Johnsgaard, Jeff Wood and Colin Abbott will be testing their mettle against some of the best in the country.

Also on site with their respective teams will be David Greer and Graham Nishikawa, who both train with the Pierre Harvey Training Centre in Quebec and Emily Nishikawa, who trains with the Alberta World Cup Academy team out of Canmore.

The athletes will compete in two races; a medium distance free technique race on Saturday and a sprint race, also a free technique contest, on Sunday.

The Saturday race is particularly significant for Graham Nishikawa who is in contention for a coveted Olympic berth. Cross Country Canada will be using the results of the Saturday race as one of their main selection races for the last spot on the distance squad for the upcoming Olympic games.

Submitted by Alain Masson and Claude Chabot.
