Cross Country Canada has announced the members of the Canadian National Ski Team for the 2012 – 2013 season and once again Whitehorse skiers make up part of the roster.
In a repeat of last season, both Emily and Graham Nishikawa will form part of the National Senior Team.
The Nishikawa siblings are consistent strong performers at the national level.
Emily dominated her Under-23 category in races across the country, was the aggregate category winner at the Haywood Ski Nationals in Quebec and represented Canada in the world U-23 championships in Turkey last February.
Meanwhile, Graham spent much of the season competing in Europe, representing Canada in a number of World Cup and OPA races, but still managed respectable results in the Haywood Noram series while at home. He is currently ranked 6th in the country.
On the Junior side, Dahria Beatty also returns to the national squad. Beatty, who is only 17, has been a dominant force in the junior women's ranks for several years in Canada. Along with numerous national awards, she was also chosen to represent Canada at the World Junior Championships in Turkey this past season.
All three of the local athletes will be training full time in Canmore next season, working with the Alberta World Cup Academy team.
Whitehorse skiers have been consistently placing on both senior and junior national teams in the past years.
