Warren Miller's 64th film "Ticket To Ride” will take viewers on an exhilarating journey down steep peaks and through fresh powder Friday night at the Yukon Arts Centre.

The event will be a fund-raiser for the Whitehorse ski hill, Mount Sima, which will open this year after several months of uncertainty surrounding its potential closure.

The film records an exhilarating voyage to Iceland's Troll Peninsula, the Fjords of Greenland, the Alaskan Tordrillos, Montana's Big Sky country, among others.

The trams and trains in Switzerland climb to Mt. Eiger, the fishing boats in Norway float to Alesund, and the helicopters in Valdez soar above avalanche debris, all making viewers motivated and excited to discover their "Ticket To Ride.”

Sima supporters are encouraged to get their tickets to the event at Sportslife and BoardStiff. As in all previous years, all proceeds from the movie will go to the local ski hill.

Warren Miller is an American ski and snowboard filmmaker. Now retired, his company Warren Miller Entertainment continues to publish the the exhilarating videos.

The company is touring their current production through 70 cities across the United States. "Ticket to Ride” premiered in Salt Lake City on Oct. 11.

This year is especially poignant to those who depend on the hill for their winter escape, enjoyment, exercise and challenge. The energy of a Warren Miller movie always encourages gravity-loving folk to dust off their skis and boards and to dream of making turns in the white stuff.

As a bonus, Yukon's own Hardly Worth Watching Productions has developed a few short videos to add to the night.

Filmgoers will see Yukon athletes at Mt. Sima, filmed, edited and produced by local athletes.

"Ticket to Ride” and the Hardly Worth Watching videos are brought to Yukon by Sportslife, Board Stiff, Air North, Yukon 鶹, CKRW the Rush and the Yukon Arts Centre.

The evening will begin Friday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance or $22 at the door.
