A long-distance runner has entered the Yukon on his planned journey across the Americas.

Seattle runner Steve Petrucci, 58, is aiming to run 22,530 kms (14,000 miles) from Alaska to Argentina for charity.

He began his journey in Deadhorse, Alaska, on May 5, and was closing in on Beaver Creek as of yesterday.

The run is known as the RoadsEnd Run and is raising money for Doctors Without Borders.

Petrucci is averaging about 48 kms per day and is expected to hit Haines Junction and Whitehorse in the coming days via the Alaska Highway.
