Jeff Wiggins battled a strained back muscle in his final round at the PGA club pro championships, shooting a second straight round of 75 to finish 27th overall.

Mountain View Golf Club's director of golf said he woke up with the strained muscle Wednesday, citing awkward bunker shots from his second round as the likely cause of the pain.

A trip to the medical trailer prior to his round, and a quick massage between the front and back nine helped Wiggins battle through the pain, but he wasn't able to claw his way back up the leaderboard. Regardless, his finish moves him into the top-150 PGA player rankings in the country.

Adam Chamberlain of Bathurst, N.B. won the event with a gross score of 207, 13 strokes up on Wiggins.

"All in all, it was a great tournament,鈥濃圵iggins said.
