"Winter is definitely outstaying its welcome,鈥 said Andrew Richardson of the Whitehorse Recreational Co-Ed Soccer's league executive.
"Unfortunately for us, that means the Whitehorse fields will most likely not be ready in time for our drop-in games and first game of the season.鈥
Faced with the chilly dilemma, the league executive has decided to push back the scheduled drop-in games and the first game of the season by one week.
The registration deadline will also be pushed back a week, until May 16. Interested players can sign up at Sport Yukon.
The league will host drop-in games May 13 and 16, while the first game of the new season will go May 20.
The league typically sees action between six teams, with about 20 players on each squad, said Richardson.
The season usually runs from early May to late August with games on Mondays and Thursdays, and closes out with a series of drop-in games.
The late-season snow has affected more than just soccer.
