The local minor hockey season concluded this weekend with one final clash between the city's top teams.
The Whitehorse Minor Hockey Association (WMHA) staged a year-end tournament at the Canada Games Centre, which ended with five championship finals played in front of large crowds Sunday afternoon.
The Timbits championship got things started, with the Canucks outlasting the Flames to win 6-4. The game was the first time Timbit players skated alongside referees.
The Canucks also won the novice championship, routing the Senators by a score of 9-1.
In the atom final, Sequoia beat Scotiabank 8-4, thanks in large part to a four-goal game by Hugo Burgess.
Kaelen Lewis and Aaron Bolduc added two goals a piece in the victory, while Nevadah Webb scored twice for Scotiabank in a losing effort.
In the peewee final, Booster Juice turned the tables on their rivals, shutting out the Jr. Atom Mustangs 4-0.
The bantam championship game saw the Peewee A鈥圡ustangs score three quick goals in the final period to beat the Great Canadian Dollar Store 7-5.
A total of 21 teams and more than 300 players competed in the weekend tournament, said WMHA president Carl Burgess.
"We had a great season,鈥 he told the Star. "The vast majority of the games were tight, super-exciting games. There was lots of energy and cheers and the right kind of emotion all weekend.鈥
